WELLINGTON ANGLING ASSOCIATION
GENERAL RULES FROM 1st March, 2018 ONWARDS

1. This Association is called “Wellington Angling Association” and it shall have as its objectives the enjoyment, encouragement and enhancement of the sport of fishing. Our waters are open throughout the year, subject to the close seasons for coarse and trout.

2. The management of the Association shall be vested in the elected Committee, consisting of the Officers of the Association, who will be elected into office at each Annual General Meeting. These Officers will be: the Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer. Additionally, the Committee, either acting together in the best interests of the Association, or acting on the majority vote of Life and Ordinary members at an A.G.M., may co-opt any member of the Association onto the Committee for a particular purpose or objective having the benefit or advantage of the Association in mind. A quorum of at least three members is required at any Committee meeting.

3. The Annual General Meeting of the members of the Association will be held on the 1st Monday in March each year. At this meeting the Officers will make their annual report to members present, and the Treasurer will produce the accounts covering the previous year to the present. Following this the Officers for the following year will be elected, including those members asked to be Water Keepers (formerly referred to as bailiffs) on behalf of the Association and its members.

4. The Secretary keep a register of members’ names, addresses, and contact details, also waiting list (updated as necessary) of those wishing to join. The Secretary shall make a record of all meetings, and discharge all other duties as required. To assist the Secretary in keeping membership records up-to-date, members are expected to inform the Secretary of changes address, phone numbers, and email address changes as part of an expected commitment to
support the association, it’s committee members, and it’s stated objectives at Rule 1 above.

5. The duties of the Treasurer shall be to receive and bank all monies, keep a record of income and expenditure, and be responsible for a statement of accounts and balance sheet for production at the Annual general Meeting to members present.

6 Membership of the Association will consist of the following classes of members: Life Members, (generally conferred on members of 25 years standing, or such other condition as maybe deemed appropriate by the Committee, or on the vote of members at an A.G.M.), Ordinary paid-up members, Temporary Members, (on payment and issue of a Day Ticket), and Complimentary Members, being i/ persons under 18 years of age, (children and young persons), or ii/ an adult angler; (in both cases on the invitation of, and accompanied by, an Ordinary paid-up member).

7. Subscriptions are due to be paid at the Annual General Meeting or to the Treasurer by the 31st March at the latest. Any member not so doing may forfeit their membership on the decision of the Committee after their having discussed the reason(s) why such member had failed to pay within the given time-frame. Payment to be made to the Treasurer in cash only.

8. Members shall be required to produce their membership card for the current season on demand of other members or of the Associations nominated Water Keepers. All members are asked to be on the alert to prevent trespassing by asking strangers to produce the appropriate identification card or day ticket. Membership cards and day tickets are not transferable.

9. In the interests of the Association members shall not cause damage to fences, crops banks, or adjoining property, nor leave litter, nor trespass on adjoining land, and give consideration to livestock by keeping all gates properly closed as necessary.

10. No liability shall be incurred by the Association in respect of members fishing in the Association’s waters. Members fish at their own risk, and are personally responsible for any damage or misdemeanour done and shall make good the same if required to do so by the Association or otherwise face expulsion from it.

11. No fishing to be done other than by the use of rod and line, with no more than one rod to be used at a time. The use of spinners, lures, or treble hooks is not permitted.

12. Members must be in possession of a current Environment Agency licence before fishing the Association’s waters.

13. Members are asked not to take any fish under the size of 10 inches, (or 25.5 centimetres).

14. Members are encouraged to make a record of all fish caught during the season in order that members may have an understanding of the general state of the fishing within the Association’s waters.

15. All applications for membership, complaints, requests or other issues of concern should be made to the Secretary in writing, who will present this information to members at the next A.G.M. when members can decide how many applicants to invite to join the Association and to discuss any other issues notified to the Secretary.

16. Where it is considered necessary to do so, the Committee, or any member of the Association, can call an Extraordinary General Meeting of members to decide upon any issue that should be dealt with before the next A.G.M

The type of personal information we collect  

We currently collect and process the following member information: 

  • Full name.  
  • Date of Birth. 
  • Postal address. 
  • Email address. 
  • Telephone number.  
  • The year individual membership commenced.  

How we get the personal information and why we have it 

All of the personal information we collect and process is provided to us directly by you for the following reasons: 

  • For the performance of our agreement with you as a member of the Wellington Angling Association. This includes (but is not limited to), communicating with you regarding club events, club business and your individual membership and the payment of annual subscriptions (and also day tickets, where applicable).  

We do not seek or receive personal information about you from any other sources.  

We do not share your information with any third-party individuals or organisations, except where legally required to do so or in the case of Clubmate (who provide website design and hosting services for and on behalf of Wellington Angling Association).  

We endeavour to collect and process only information that is essential to the running of the Wellington Angling Association. 

GDPR 

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are:  

  • Your consent. You are able to remove your consent at any time. You can do this by contacting the club secretary, Grahame Woodward, by email at: wdgraha@aol.com 
  • We have a legal obligation. 

How we store your personal information  

Your information is securely stored on servers provided by Clubmate (who provide website design and hosting services for and on behalf of Wellington Angling Association). 

The following committee members (while the individual is in post) will have access to the personal information you have provided: The Chairman, the Treasurer and the Secretary, as required in order to carry out their specific duties as members of the Wellington Angling Association committee.  

We will keep your information as long as your membership is current/valid. Should you at any point choose to leave the Wellington Angling Association, your information will be permanently deleted from our database.   

Your data protection rights 

Under data protection law, you have rights including: 

Your right of access – You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.  

Your right to rectification – You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.  

Your right to erasure – You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.  

Your right to restriction of processing – You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.  

Your right to object to processing – You have the the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances. 

Your right to data portability – You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances. 

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.
