92 – River Wye – Glanrhos Estate – Llanwrthwl

Brief description of fishery:

Barbless hooks only. All Trout and Grayling to be returned. All fish to be returned. This fishery is open to members for fly fishing all year round. Catch returns MUST be completed at this fishery and are to be posted in the returns box which is in the porch of Glanrhos House.
The venue consists of 1330yds of right bank from the bridge to just before Nantmel House on the opposite side. Coarse fishing with maggots allowed 26th October to 31st January.
Main species: Trout, grayling, Occasional salmon.
Accessibility Good. Some stiles to cross.
Key Points: Apart from the coarse fishing October to January, the fishery is Fly only. Welsh Water Authority Barbless hooks, all trout and grayling to be returned Some large trout and grayling have been caught at this venue. Parking by the guest house. Leave catch returns in the box on the porch. Park so as not to cause obstruction. Game season 3rd March to 25th October. (Upper Wye regulations) Coarse fishing 26th October to 31st January. Take extreme care when wading.

Access & Parking

This stretch on the river Wye is situated just off the A470, 14 miles from Crossgates, 3.5 miles from Rhayader at the Glanhros Estate. Turn right immediately having crossed the river over the bridge before you enter Llanwrthwl. OS reference SN297639

Landranger 147. Drive past the houses and parking is inside the gate by the guest house. Do not obstruct the gate. Access is then by foot down the track and through the woods to the river. Alternate access can be gained across the field just prior to Glanrhos House.
