Haysden Lake

Brief description of fishery:

Haysden is a 30 acre lake dug in the 1960’s for gravel, one third of the bank is available for anglers providing a good number of swims. The remaining two thirds of the lake side forms part of s nature reserve.Haysden can be relied on to produce small Roach and Skimmers to whip and short pole using maggots or caster. There is a good head of Bream and a few large Carp, Tench, Perch and Pike. Other species such as Chub, Gudgeon, Barbel, Bleak and all other river species have been caught to small sizes and two Sturgeon have been caught in recent years. This is due to the Medway running closely alongside and floodwater being held back to prevent Tonbridge from flooding.

Bags to over 20lb of mixed species can be caught close in and feeder tactics will usually find the big Bream and Tench. Carp to 35lb have been caught, although most are elusive and require persistence to tempt them from the quiet nature reserve area. Some large fish estimated as mid twenties have never been caught.
