Wainsford Lake

Brief description of fishery:

A beautiful estate lake in deep countryside, Wainsford is a fantastic place to spend some time fishing. It offers a very rare opportunity to catch wild carp – hook one approaching double figures and you are in for a real scrap! Also present are vast shoals of roach and rudd with huge nets of fin perfect specimens around 6-8oz possible along with some 1lb+ fish. Excellent perch approaching 4lb have been captured which are piling on weight from feasting on the vast head of silverfish.

The overhanging trees, abundant lilies and copious reeds all make perfect fish habitats and great areas to target with waggler gear. Larger carp to over 20lb are present and some stunning ghosties and ornamentals to high doubles have also been reported. Tench were stocked in 2018 and with skimmers plentiful it is believed that some larger bream lurk throughout the water. The shallow, stream fed top end tapers to the deep dam wall creating a huge variety of pegs accessible to all styles of fishing. Wooden platforms and a flat path around the lake provide excellent access for all. The rich wildlife present tops an idyllic day off beautifully.
