Bridgwater Angling Association – Matches

Our Match scene has struggled in recent years and we are working hard to make it return to our venues. We will be looking to run a monthly match on one of our venues along with any bookings that are made from outside of the club.

We will  be running a Carp match at Combwich Ponds and Dunwear yearly. Please see our face book page for details as they are decided.

ALL PERSONS WISHING TO PARTICIPATE IN ADULT OR JUNIOR CLUB MATCHES MUST BE IN POSSESSION OF A SEASON PERMIT CLUB MATCH RULES – SENIOR

  1. Members must enter their names previous to any contact and must furnish proof of membership when requested. Entries will be accepted by local tackle dealers. A reservation fee must be paid whether person entering name fishes or not. Entry to further matches will be denied until outstanding peg fee is paid.
  2. The draw for pegs at all contests will close 15 minutes after the commencement or as soon as the last person present has drawn, whichever is the later. No one will be allowed to draw or fish after this time. This rule may be relaxed for evening or Saturday contests.
  3. National Federation of Anglers rules will apply to all contests except that Company rules will supersede where they are in conflict. Members fishing a contest are requested not to fish venues on the day prior to a match.
  4. Optional pools will be run on the bank at all contests and will be paid out on day of match.
  5. Juniors may not take part in any pools but may fish in senior competitions provided they are over 12 years of age and responsibility for their conduct is accepted by an adult who is present.
  6. Members are expected to remain at their pegs during the contest and not encroach on the banks of the swim of another contestant. A baited hook must not be left in the water if a contestant leaves his swim. On receipt of a complaint from a contestant, which is subsequently proven, a contestant may be disqualified, unless mitigating circumstances can be shown. A complaint must be made to the competition organiser within 30 minutes of the final whistle.
  7. Pike do not count in competitions.
  8. Competitors found fishing with litter in their swims will be disqualified and be liable to have their licenses revoked by the Council of Management.
